How to get leads from ChatGPT

Quick answer

To get leads from ChatGPT, get your company named when a buyer asks it who to use. That takes a page in your buyer's words, a place on the pages ChatGPT reads, and an easy way to get in touch. Resonance got three organic inbound leads from AI within three weeks of doing this.

GEOSearch does this for SaaS companies and consultancies: one page and up to 50 prompts for $495 in the first month, then $195 a month, with a GEO Consultant who edits the page and answers your questions.

Results in two weeks. The two weeks start the day your new page goes live.

What do people mean by leads from ChatGPT?

They mean one of two things, and most answers only cover the first. One is using ChatGPT to find prospects and write outreach. The other is ChatGPT recommending your company to a buyer, who then gets in touch. This page is about the second, because that is the work we sell.

We put the question “How do I get leads from ChatGPT?” to six assistants on 1 November 2026. ChatGPT began: “You can use ChatGPT to generate leads in three main ways.” Google's AI Overview pointed to data cleaning and CSV files. The brands named included Instantly, HubSpot and Apollo. None of them gets you recommended by an assistant, and no GEO firm was named at all. So the second meaning has no clear owner yet.

Can a B2B company really get leads from ChatGPT?

Yes, in small numbers so far. Resonance, a UK B2B technology PR agency, got three organic inbound leads from AI within three weeks of changing its site. It had none from LLMs in the previous six months. That is Resonance's own count, and our co-founder Tom Fry is a director there, so weigh it accordingly. The case study has the dates and the limits.

Two larger studies point the same way. Orbit Media read 97 GA4 accounts and found ChatGPT turned 2.1% of visitors into leads, against 0.5% for Google Search. AI sources were only 0.5% of traffic. Demandbase reports monthly ChatGPT referrals to B2B sites rising from about 645,000 in June 2025 to 2.6 million in June 2026. The channel is small and growing fast, and the people it sends are unusually ready to talk.

I'm not getting any leads from ChatGPT. How do I fix that?

Work through these in order, because each one depends on the last.

  1. Ask what your buyer would ask. Open a new chat and type the question a buyer types, without your name in it. A source label beside a claim does not count. You need to be named in the answer. Our free AI visibility check does a first pass.
  2. Check ChatGPT can read you. Allow OAI-SearchBot in your robots file, confirm Bing has indexed your pages, and serve your text in the first HTML response. A page built in the browser can look empty to a crawler.
  3. Publish one page in your buyer's words. Say who you serve and what you do in the title and first sentence. State prices as text, name clients with permission, and give outcomes with figures.
  4. Get onto the pages ChatGPT already reads. The answers show their sources. Ask to be listed on the ones that cover your category.
  5. Make the next step easy, and ask where leads came from. Put a contact route on the page itself. Add “which assistant sent you?” to your form, or you will never see the result.

Why does ranking on Google bring no leads from ChatGPT?

They read different things. ChatGPT search draws on Bing's index, and 28.3% of the 1,000 pages it cites most have no Google rankings at all (Ahrefs, Q1 2026). In our 1 November run, ChatGPT most often named Pieo and FirstMotion, while Google AI Mode most often named First Page Sage. A brand also has to be retrieved before it can be recommended. One study ran 34,960 observations (Tannenbaum, 2026). Brands were named in 2.8% of GPT answers when their domain never appeared in the retrieval path, and in 49% when it was cited. That study is observational, so read it as direction.

What does ChatGPT cite when buyers ask who to use?

Firms' own service pages and case studies, more often than you might expect. Across our 68 prompts on 1 November, about 10% of ChatGPT's citations went to pages that look like comparison lists from their URLs. Across all six assistants the figure was 29%. We classed those by URL, so treat them as estimates.

Its most-cited page was Pieo's GEO service page, at about 1,350 words with no table. It says “The goal is qualified enquiries and revenue”. ChatGPT also cited case studies with a commercial outcome, such as Directive's 20% lift in bookings for Case Status and The Lead Agency's own results. So write the outcome a buyer wants on the page, in those words.

Who can get my company leads from ChatGPT?

GEOSearch is one option, at $495 for the first month and $195 a month after that. On 1 November ChatGPT most often named Pieo, FirstMotion, Omniscient Digital, Tilio and Otter Labs for these prompts. Across all six assistants, Omniscient Digital, First Page Sage, Directive and iPullRank led. Our GEO agency comparison sets out what each one sells and charges. We were named in 0 of those 408 answers, about an hour after this version of our site went live. Our results page tracks that number in public.

Whoever you talk to, ask for enquiries as well as mentions. A firm that reports only share of voice may never have measured what you are paying for.

How do I get leads from Gemini, Perplexity, Grok and Google AI?

The same page does most of the work, though each assistant finds it differently. Gemini takes over half its sources from brands' own sites. Perplexity and Grok lean on lists written for them, with titles such as “best Perplexity SEO agencies”, so those lists are worth a pitch. Google AI Mode and AI Overviews read the Google index, so they follow once your page ranks there. We count ChatGPT most heavily in our ranking, because the most buyers use it.

The six assistants we measure, with the usage weight each carries in the headline rank.
AssistantWeightWhen a new page tends to showHow it chooses
ChatGPT4Within days of publicationLeans on one clear comparison page once it finds it.
Gemini2Once the page ranks in GoogleTakes over half its sources from brands’ own sites.
Google AI Mode1Once the page ranks in GoogleReads the Google index and trade press. Uses new pages slowly.
Google AI Overviews1Once the page ranks in GoogleShortest answers, and often shows nothing at all.
Perplexity0.5Within days of publicationReads directories and third-party lists.
Grok0.5About a week after publicationWidest mix of sources, and slowest to find a new page.

How long does it take to get leads from ChatGPT?

Being named comes first, and enquiries follow. ChatGPT and Perplexity usually pick up a new page within days, and Grok takes about a week. Resonance's three leads came within three weeks, after 39 changes to its site. That is one firm, and an order here is one page, so we cannot promise the same pace. A long sales cycle also means the first enquiry can be months from a signed deal.

What's the fastest and cheapest way to start?

Do it yourself if you have a writer. Our method is public, and it costs you a week of work. To have it done for you, GEOSearch charges $495 (£395 ex VAT) for the first month, and the page reaches you on day 5. It then costs $195 a month. You can cancel at any time, with no commitment after the upfront cost. Retainers elsewhere have a median of $6,850 a month (First Page Sage, 7 October 2026). Our pricing page has the market figures beside ours.

If the two-week run shows no rise beyond the baseline's interval, we revise the page and run it again at no charge.

Questions buyers ask

Can GEOSearch guarantee leads from ChatGPT?

No, and be wary of anyone who does. Nobody controls what an assistant says. We measure whether you are named, assistant by assistant, against a baseline. If the two-week run shows no rise beyond the baseline interval, we revise the page and run it again at no charge. The enquiries are yours to count.

How do I know a lead came from ChatGPT?

Ask. Put one question on your enquiry form: which assistant sent you? Our own form does. Then look for chatgpt.com and perplexity.ai in your analytics referrers. Expect to undercount, because a buyer often reads the answer, then searches for your name later.

Should we stop using ChatGPT for outreach?

No. Prospecting with AI and being recommended by AI are separate jobs, and you can do both. Tools such as Clay and Apollo handle the first. GEOSearch only does the second, where the buyer comes to you.

Is it worth doing when AI sends so little traffic?

It depends on what one customer is worth to you. In Orbit Media's study, AI sources were 0.5% of traffic. A B2B firm with a large deal size can pay for the work with one client. A low-priced product needs more volume. The first month on one topic costs $495, which is how we would find out.
